The Phoenix Park is one of the largest walled city parks in Europe and is home to the magnificent residences of the Irish President and the Ambassador of the United States. Its 11 kilometre perimeter wall encloses 1,750 acres and includes the Garda Headquarters, Ashtown Castle, Dublin Zoo and the Papal Cross which was erected for the visit of Pope John Paul II in 1979.
