Volunteer opportunities for AMCIS 2017 are described below. Volunteers are required to work a minimum of 10 hours during the conference in exchange for a complimentary AMCIS 2017 registration. Volunteers will not work more than 12 hours during the conference, leaving ample opportunity to network and participate in conference activities. The complimentary registration includes all group meals and coffee breaks, access to paper sessions when not volunteering, and access to exhibitors. Volunteers must be fluent in spoken and written English

Who can volunteer?
Any doctoral student may apply for a volunteer position. Those in early stages of their doctoral education may find this opportunity especially valuable; it is a great introduction to AMCIS and the field of IS. All volunteers should be well-organized, friendly, and fluent in both spoken and written English.

Volunteer positions are not guaranteed. Assignments are made based on volunteer’s suitability and availability and the AMCIS schedule, requirements, and number of submitted applications.
Volunteer Assignments:
Volunteer Positions include, but are not limited to:
Paper Session Room/AV Monitor
Ensure presenters and session chairs are in attendance and all needs are taken care of. Conduct session head counts. Monitors remain in or directly outside the rooms at all times.
Greeters and Directional Assistance
Greeters will be positioned throughout the hotel. Volunteers must be able to answer questions pertaining to the AMCIS program and Mobile App, and accurately direct attendees to various conference events.
Career Connect
Check in pre-registered university recruiters and direct interviewees to the correct interview tables. Tables in the Career Connect area are first come, first serve. Volunteers will be responsible for the time management of the Career Connect area should a waiting line form.
Doctoral Student Corner
Assist the organizer with daily activities as they are related to the Doctoral Student Corner.
Conference Bag Stuffing
Help fill bags with conference related items.
Social Event
Provide directional assistance. Volunteers must be friendly and fluent in English.
Keynote Assistance
Pass out material to attendees as they enter keynote session; other tasks related needs to the keynote session.
Box Lunch Assistance
As needed, help distribute box lunches. Be aware of locations of Poster Slam Sessions to direct attendees. Volunteers must be friendly and fluent in English, and well-organized.
Floater
Assist as needed for the conference. Tasks could include helping a workshop with registration, providing directions, or being a runner for the conference management. Volunteers must be proficient in the English language, organized and friendly.
Poster Session Setup and Support
Help committee person and poster presenters as needed.
