IS Strategy, Structure, and Organizational Impacts
The goal of the IS Strategy, Structure, and Organizational impact track is to advance our knowledge of how information systems is shaping the competitive behaviors of firms and about the effects of information technology on the structure, boundaries and business models of organizations. Recent advances in mobile computing, cloud services, big data, and social media offer new opportunities for participants to collaborate, co-create value, and transform business process along value chains. These opportunities not only transform existing practices, but also inspire new business models. We seek papers that offer deep theoretical insights about the role of information systems in the strategic behavior of firms. We also welcome theoretical and empirical papers that draw on diverse management and organizational theories to examine IS strategy at all levels of analysis. The track is open to papers employing various research methods.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
· The strategic use of emerging information technology in firms, industries, and value networks
· The effects of IT on the competitive behavior of firms
· Impact of emerging information technologies in firms, industries, and value networks
· IS control, IT governance, and risk management in adoption of new technologies
· Service innovation with emerging IT
· IT enabled business model innovation and organizational change
· IS strategy and leadership The integration of emerging IT and traditional systems for strategic advantage
· Outsourcing, open sourcing and crowdsourcing and implications of cloud computing and social media
· Extracting business value from big data including open data
· The agile alignment and co-evolution of business strategy, organization, and IS within and across firms
· Sustainable e-business practices and strategies
· IT-enabled entrepreneurship and new organizational forms
