Dr. Marvin (Marv) Langston is an independent consultant and Principal of Langston Associates LLC. Combining over thirty-four years of public service and fifteen years of private sector experience, he brings a broad spectrum of expertise to his customers, where he provides consulting services on technology adoption, enterprise architecture & engineering, organizational strategy, and leadership.
In his public service career, Marv served as Department of Defense Deputy Chief Information Officer (CIO), where he helped initiate the Global Information Grid, Public Key Infrastructure – Common Access Cards, and led the Defense Department Year 2000 transformation. Prior to that, he held positions as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Navy for C4I, was the Navy’s first CIO, and was Director of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Information Systems Office.
Following his distinguished public service career, Marv served as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of a small high-tech start-up and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of a large business practice. Dr. Langston also held management roles at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory.
Dr. Langston earned a Doctorate of Public Administration (DPA) from the University of Southern California (USC), and a Masters in Public Administration (MPA) from USC. He also holds a Master of Science in Electronic Engineering (MSEE) from the Naval Post Graduate School, and a Bachelor of Science in Electronic Engineering (BSEE) from Purdue University.
