ICIS 2014 Conference Career Placement  

ICIS placement will be associated with the Association for Information Systems (AIS) on-line placement service and will host on-site career placement activities in Auckland, New Zealand.

What is AIS Career Placement Services?

The AIS Placement Services is open on a year-round basis. To facilitate matching candidates with positions, AIS placement provides listings of universities seeking applicants and applicants seeking universities, serving three types of users:

√   Universities seeking to post a standardized university job listing and to browse all listings. 

√   Applicants seeking to post their standardized resumes and to browse all listings.

√   Individuals seeking to browse only (i.e., not wishing to post a job opening or a resume/CV).

AIS Placement Activities

Please carefully read the requirements to ensure that your reservation is as complete as possible.

During the ICIS 2014 conference, facilities will be provided to assist the meetings of applicants and university representatives. ICIS 2014 Open Placement rooms are available by reservation appointment only. AIS has several 3-hour appointment blocks available for institutions who would like to conduct onsite interviews. The most customary way to reserve a room is by scheduling an appointment block.  Institutions are able to reserve a meeting room and one 3-hour time block per day.

All persons who are participating (interviewers and interviewees) in AIS Open Placement activities onsite at ICIS 2014 must be registered for both ICIS 2014 and have a current job post or resume on the AIS Career Placement website.

Open Placement reservation deadline is November 21, 2014.

PLEASE NOTE:

·         Each institution may only reserve one time slot per day. Institutions may reserve time slots on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.  (3-hour block x three days = Nine hours for interviewing)

·         Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your reserved time slot. This will allow you to check in with the open placement volunteers and arrive at your interview room.

·         If you have not checked-in with the volunteers at the Open Placement desk within 30 minutes of your scheduled reservation, the room will be released for use.

·         Please be mindful of the next reservation and remove all belongings at the end of your appointment.

·         Time blocks are strictly enforced. Under no circumstances are institutions allowed to go beyond their appointed reservation. There are open lounge areas located on each floor of The University of Auckland that you may freely use after your reservation appointment has ended.

ICIS 2014 Theme: Building a Better World through Information Systems

As information systems become ubiquitous and have widespread impact on people from all strata of society, they can be leveraged to address critical problems facing our world. Alleviating hunger, providing affordable access to healthcare and education, addressing environmental sustainability, and addressing human rights violations are examples of critical global challenges. Emerging technologies have allowed information systems to contribute to the resolution of these challenges more than ever before. Given the increasing penetration and lowering costs of networked and mobile technologies, information systems can have a broad impact across all strata of society, privileged and less privileged alike (e.g., in the form of frugal systems). Information systems can contribute to building a better world through humanitarian efforts, sustained food production and distribution, better and affordable access to healthcare and to education, more efficient energy usage, citizen participation through democracy, and connecting diaspora, among others. The 2014 theme track welcomes all types of research papers that offer novel ideas about how information systems can contribute to a better world.

Welcome to the website of the 2014 International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS 2014), to be held in Auckland, New Zealand from December 14-17, 2014.

ICIS is the major annual meeting of the Association for Information Systems (AIS), which has over 4,000 members representing universities in over 95 countries worldwide. It is the most prestigious gathering of academics and practitioners in the IS discipline, and provides a forum for networking and sharing of latest ideas and highest calibre scientific work amongst the IS profession. Each year, over 1,000 IS academic professionals from around the world participate in the conference program, which includes about 60 sessions and 180 presentations, in addition to keynotes, CIO panels and research panels.

The theme of ICIS 2014 is Building a Better World through Information Systems. ICIS 2014 will be hosted by The University of Auckland Business School, in Auckland, New Zealand.

Auckland is one of the great cities of the South Pacific, where stunning natural beauty and big city style meet. Home to 1.5 million people, the city has modern shopping areas plus many excellent cafes and restaurants. It is surrounded by two natural habours, native forests, dormant volcanoes and beautiful beaches. It is regularly voted one of the best cities in the world to live. And of course, ICIS will be held in December - the start of summer in the southern hemisphere!
