Special Invited Panel on How Technology is Transforming the Sports Industry

Technology – from data analytics to wearable devices to social media -- is changing the way athletes train, coaches coach, and fans engage in sports. This special panel will be led by Ben Shields, Lecturer in Managerial Communication at MIT and former Director of Social Media and Marketing at ESPN.  In addition to providing an overview of how analytics has changed sports, Ben will moderate a panel in which Matthew O’Neill, Vice President for Brand and Media for the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League, and Mike Bullock, Senior Vice President of IT for the Texas Rangers of Major League Baseball, describe how their sports organizations apply analytics in their efforts to field championship teams and engage their fan base.
