ICIS 2015 FAQs


1. Where and how do I submit my paper?

All submissions are to be made via the ICIS 2015 submission system at ScholarOne’s ManuscriptCentral. After creating an account and logging on to the ScholarOne site, the authors should go to "Author Center" to submit their completed research paper, research-in-progress paper, teaching case, or panel proposal. 2. When is the deadline for paper submissions?

Submission deadline is: 11:59PM CDT, May 4, 2015. No submissions will be accepted after the deadline.

3. Where do I find the most important dates?

4. What kind of papers may I submit?

There are four types of submissions:
a)    Completed research papers (submitted to any track except for “Panels”).
b)    Research-in-progress papers (submitted to any track except for “Panels” and which will be presented as interactive posters.
c)    Teaching cases (submitted to the IS Curriculum and Education Track’ only)
d)    Panel proposals (submitted to the ‘Panels Track’ only)

6. May I submit my paper to more than one track?


Under no circumstances should the same paper (or different versions of the same paper) be submitted to more than one track. You also may not submit essentially the same paper under two different titles.

7. May I submit multiple papers?

Yes, you may submit different papers.
However, you may not submit the same or slightly varied papers to different tracks.
If you do so, this will be considered as unethical scientific behavior and both papers will be rejected.

8. May I submit papers which are under review somewhere else?


Submissions to ICIS 2015 must be original; submissions cannot have been published or accepted in a journal or conference proceedings, nor presented at another conference. Further, submissions must not be concurrently under consideration for publication or presentation elsewhere. If your paper has previously been published as a working paper or a preprint, you will be asked to describe this as part of the submission process. 

9. What if my paper topic does not fit any of the tracks?

If your paper topic doesn’t fit any of the tracks, submit your paper to the “General Topics Track”. For further guidance, please consult directly with track chairs.

10. May I add/delete co-authors of my paper after it is submitted/accepted?


11. How do I withdraw my submission?

Please notify the program chairs if you want to withdraw your submission.

12. Are there any formatting guidelines?

All submissions must be in Microsoft® Word .DOC format, Microsoft® Word .DOCX format, or Adobe PDF format. Files submitted in other formats or that do not use the submission template will not be considered for review.

14. In which language should I submit?

English (dialects including American, British, Canadian, etc.) is the language of the conference and of all submissions.

15. What is included in the page limit?

All text, figures, tables, and appendices must be included within the page limit. The cover page, abstract, keywords, and references are excluded from this page count.

16. What if my paper exceeds the page limits?

Submissions that exceed the page limits shall be rejected.

17. How will my papers be reviewed?

Full research papers, research in progress papers, and teaching cases will be assigned by the track chairs to an associate editor who in turn will invite at least two reviewers.

18. Are track chairs allowed to submit papers to the conference?

Yes they are.
But they may not submit their papers to their own track.

19. Are conference and program chairs allowed to submit papers to the conference?

Yes, they may submit their own papers to a desired track via the editorial system. However, the submissions will be handled outside the review system by the respective track chairs.

20. Why does the system not allow me to submit papers to the Breakout ideas track?

Breakout ideas, and papers with impact beyond academia, may emerge in all tracks. Thus, the decision whether a paper offers breakout potential is made by your track chair who can nominate your paper. The idea is to foster papers which have novel ideas and have the potential to solve societal challenges. 21. Do I need to suggest reviewers for my paper?

No, reviewers are suggested and invited by the associate editors only.

22. How/when will I be notified about whether my paper has been accepted?

Authors will be notified via email as to whether their submission was accepted, conditionally accepted, or rejected by Friday, August 7, 2015.

23. How do I propose a panel?

Panel proposals may only be submitted to the Panels track. Please refer to panel proposal submission guidelines on ICIS 2015 website - http://icis2015.aisnet.org/en/paper-submissions/paper-submission.

24. How do I apply for the doctoral consortium?

25. I have problems with the editorial system. Whom shall I contact?

26. My paper got accepted. Do I have to present my paper at the conference?

At least one author of every accepted submission and all members of every accepted panel must present at ICIS 2015 in Ft. Worth. Authors should be prepared to present their papers or participate in panels at any time during the conference (Sunday, December 13 to Wednesday, December 16, 2015). Failure to comply with this requirement will result in removal of papers or panelists from the ICIS 2015 Proceedings.

27. My paper got accepted. May I opt for a discussant?

Yes, you may. After receiving an acceptance notification, you will be asked whether you would like to opt for a discussant.
In case you do so, your track chairs will nominate a discussant and your time budget for the presentation will be reduced by two minutes. The aim is for a ‘light touch’ discussant who makes useful and constructive suggestions about your paper, and fosters useful discussion.

28. May I offer suggestions for discussants?

Yes, you can suggest a discussant to your track chairs. But you cannot suggest someone from your own institution. The final decision regarding the discussant resides with the track chairs.

29. Is it possible to exclude my paper from being printed in the proceedings?
Full research papers, research in progress papers, and teaching cases must be printed in the proceedings which will be archived in the AIS library.

30. Do I lose my copyright when my paper gets published in the proceedings?

The copyright resides with the authors and the authors may submit and publish their papers elsewhere - if the regulations of the respective publication platform allows to do so.
